Life is an interesting phenomenon. It is the only thing that enables us to experience conciousness and really grow. I am a firm believer in the after-life, but this life is really all we have at the current time. I am tired of seeing people being so obsessed by material possesions.
The adage ‘he who has the most stuff wins’ still seems to be prevalent in this day and age of enlightenment. The other part of that statement goes ‘he who has the most stuff when he dies wins, but he still dies’. This statement is very true.
I find that wherever I go, I manage to see someone obsessed by the physicality of life, money and possessions. Do not get me wrong, it is fine to want to have a safe a secure life with possessions and wealth, but I believe it is more important that we actually have a purpose for doing so rather than doing it because we can.
To me, there is no point in gaining immense wealth and doing nothing with it. It’s completely stupid to have it simply sitting in a bank of some kind. I would rather have some wealth and do good with it such as buying a state of the art hospital and opening it to the public or buying some of the wonderful devices out there to help the less fortunate.
This is simply my ramblings.
What are your opinions on the obsessions of society?
Do you think society will eventually evolve to move on from purely materialism or not?
In my opinion, as sad as it is I believe it will be a long while before humanity evolves and moves on simply from the physical.
